Houston Dash forward Ebony Salmon, was named to the England Women’s National Team, the Football Association announced today.

The Lionesses recently won the UEFA Women's Euro 2022 and return to competitive play in September as part of the UEFA qualifiers for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. England are currently at the top of Group D with a perfect 8-0-0 record and they travel to face second-place Austria on Sept. 3 at 10:30 a.m. CDT. England host Luxembourg on Tuesday, Sept. 6 at 1:30 p.m. CDT at Britannia Stadium.

Salmon, who joined Houston in late June, has had a standout season since arriving to the Bayou City. The Birmingham, England Native has scored eight goals in eight games for the Dash and the team is currently tied for the most points in the league table. Since July 16, Salmon has outscored seven NWSL clubs in that same span.

Salmon capped off her first few weeks with the Dash with the club’s second hat trick. Salmon scored her first three goals for the team against the Chicago Red Stars on July 16. En route to the third hat trick of the 2022 NWSL regular season, Salmon became the youngest player in league history to reach that milestone.

Salmon was first called up by England’s senior national team in January 2021 when she made her debut against Northern Ireland. Salmon was subbed on in the 84th minute of the 6-0 win in place of former Dash forward Rachel Daly.
