HOUSTON (Sept. 3, 2026) - Houston Dash forward Kat Rader was named NWSL Rookie of the Month, presented by Ally, following a three-goal performance in August.
Rader converted from the penalty spot to score in Houston’s 1-1 draw against Kansas City on Aug. 8 before recording the first professional brace of her career in the Dash’s 5-0 victory over Chicago on Aug. 19. The Duke University product opened the scoring in the fifth minute and added her second goal in the 72nd minute. Rader has converted both penalty kicks she has taken this season and leads all 2026 NWSL rookies with nine goals.
The honor marks Rader’s second NWSL Rookie of the Month award this season after she previously earned the recognition in May. This is the third time a Dash player has earned this honor in 2026, Radar’s teammate Linda Ullmark was named Rookie of the Month for July. Houston’s first-year players have combined for 16 goal contributions this season, while the Dash continue to lead the league in rookie starts, appearances and minutes played. The club’s young core has also driven much of its offensive production, with players aged 24 or younger accounting for 23 of Houston’s 28 goals this season.
The Dash travel to Orlando to close their 9,000-mile road stretch on Sunday, Sept. 6 against the Orlando Pride. Fans can follow the action on the Roku Sports Channel starting at 6 p.m. CT or visit local Pub Partners to watch the match with fellow Dash fans. A full list of Pub Partners is available HERE. The team will return to Shell Energy Stadium on Sept. 12 to host Utah Royals FC for Noche Latina. Tickets for that match are available HERE.
