The Houston Dash have agreed to a contract extension with goalkeeper Jane Campbell, the team announced today. Campbell signed a multi-year extension that will see the goalkeeper remain in Houston through the 2024 season.

“I’m very excited that Jane has committed her future to the Dash,” Head Coach James Clarkson said. “She is an outstanding player and person, who is extremely ambitious. It’s our responsibility to help her achieve all her goals.”

Campbell, who wrapped up the 2021 season with the best goals-against average of her career at 1.05, started in 18 matches during the 2021 NWSL season. In her fifth season with the Dash, the Kennesaw, Ga. native was a pillar in the locker room as well as the last line of defense on the field and had 70 saves and four clean sheets in 2021.

“Re-signing with Houston is an honor,” Campbell said. “The city and the organization are like home to me, so staying here and adding another three years is a tremendous honor. I’m really thankful for everyone who’s supported the team thus far and I know we can get back to work to produce a championship contending team. I’m excited to get back to work. Thank you to Coach James, John Walker and Ted Segal for having faith in me.”

For the last five seasons, Campbell has been an important member of the Dash. As a co-captain for the 2021 season and one of the longest tenured players in Dash history, Campbell helped Houston to extremely competitive NWSL Regular season. Campbell was the first player Houston selected in the 2017 NWSL Draft with the No. 15 overall selection. Campbell was named a finalist for the 2017 Rookie of the Year award after appearing in 24 games and 79 saves.

Campbell is also a member of the United States Women’s National Team and earned a bronze medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Campbell has seven caps with five starts in goal for the USWNT. Four of Campbell’s five starts for the USWNT have been in 2021. Later this month, Campbell and a few of her Dash teammates will travel with the USWNT to Australia for a pair of friendlies to wrap up the 2021 calendar season.
