HOUSTON (Oct. 17, 2025) - The Houston Dash return to Shell Energy Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 18 to host the Kansas City Current for Fan Appreciation Night, presented by The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Kickoff for Saturday’s game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT and festivities include player-worn jersey giveaways, photo opportunities and much more. The Dash are unbeaten in their last four home matches and will look to extend that streak on Saturday in a must-win game after dropping points on the road to Angel City FC last weekend. Houston enters Saturday’s game six points below the playoff line and must win to remain in postseason contention. Houston’s postseason berth is also contingent on Racing Louisville dropping points this weekend as they face NJ/NY Gotham FC on Sunday afternoon.
The Dash have found the back of the net in their last 10 home games and this is the longest streak since a 15-game stretch from 2018 to 2019. Dash forward Yazmeen Ryan, who leads the team with four goals this season, has been a key part of that run. Ryan is one of six Dash players departing for international duty following Saturday’s match, joining defender Avery Patterson with the U.S. Women’s National Team for a trio of friendlies later this month.
The Houston Dash were held scoreless in a 2-0 setback to Angel City FC on Sunday afternoon in Southern California. Despite the result, Houston continued to create opportunities, forcing three saves from the hosts and nearly finding the net in the second half when defender Paige Nielsen’s header rattled the crossbar. The Dash have been shutout in just six of their 24 matches this season.
Houston now turns its focus to a major test against one of the toughest defenses in league history. Kansas City has conceded only 11 goals this season and just one goal since league play resumed on Aug. 1. The Current have earned 16 clean sheets this season, including a 2-0 victory over the Dash in their first meeting on April 19 in Missouri. The Dash, however, has shown resilience at home, splitting the points in each of the last two matchups with Kansas City at Shell Energy Stadium.
Kansas City secured the NWSL Shield, the club’s first-ever trophy, with a 2-0 victory over Seattle Reign FC on Sept. 21. Kansas City forward Temwa Chawinga leads the league with 15 goals and remains the frontrunner for the Golden Boot, while defenders Izzy Rodriguez and Hailie Mace have been key contributors in attack, combining for 11 assists this season. The Current enters Saturday’s game with a 2-0 victory at home over NJ/NY Gotham FC, their 20th victory of the season.
Houston’s three all-time regular season wins over Kansas City have all come on the road, setting the stage for another spirited contest as the Dash look to remain in the playoff picture. The regular season concludes on Nov. 2 with a visit to Providence Park to face Portland Thorns FC. Broadcast and streaming details for the final weekend of league play will be announced soon.
Season tickets for the 2026 season are now available and include access to member-only events like the upcoming watch party for the Nov. 2 regular season finale. For additional information, visit HoustonDash.com.
