The Houston Dash are turning their sights on the Kansas City Current after a 3-0 loss at home against San Diego Wave FC on Saturday evening.

Friday’s match will mark the second time this season that the Dash and Current face one another. The two teams previously met in the opening match of the 2023 UKG NWSL Challenge Cup on April 19 with Kansas City taking the first meeting.

Kansas City’s big off-season acquisition of midfielder Debhina has made the Current attack a handful in 2023. Debhina, who joined from North Carolina, currently ranks fifth in the league for most goals scored with four. The Brazilian international has garnered 20 shots across all competitions so far this season. Kansas City also ranks fifth in the league for most assists in regular season matches with six.

Friday’s match will mark the 11th time the two teams have met across all competitions since the Current began play in 2021. The Dash walked away with a 2-0 win during the last meeting at Children’s Mercy Park.
