PAWTUCKET, R.I. (Sep. 20, 2026) – The Houston Dash snapped a four-game winless streak with a 2-1 victory over Boston Legacy FC at Centreville Bank Stadium this afternoon, earning three points in interim head coach Jaime Frias’ first match in charge. Forward Messiah Bright scored the game-winning goal in the 85th minute, while goalkeeper and captain Jane Campbell made 10 saves this afternoon.
The Dash opened the scoring in the 44th minute after defender Lisa Boattin delivered a corner kick into the box. Midfielder Danny Colaprico finished the chance with a left-footed effort that found the back of the net. The goal marked Colaprico’s first for the Dash and her first since Sept. 10, 2022.
Boston scored the equalizer in the 59th minute after Nicki Hernandez found Aïssata Traoré inside the box.
Houston regained the lead in the 85th minute after forward Kyah Harper delivered a cross into the box for Bright, who headed the ball off the woodwork before following up on the rebound and finding the back of the net to give the Dash a 2-1 lead. The goal marked Bright’s first for the Dash this season.
Houston’s first shot of the match came off forward Kat Rader's right foot in the sixth minute, but her effort was saved at the near post by Casey Murphy. Rader currently leads all rookies in goals with nine and is three goals away from setting the NWSL record for most goals by a rookie in a single season.
Houston's next opportunity came moments later after defender Avery Patterson found space behind the Boston backline in the eighth minute. She played the ball to forward Kate Faasse, but her effort was off target.
Dash captain Jane Campbell was well positioned to deny Sarah Schupansky’s long-range effort at the near post in the 10th minute for her second save of the afternoon. The Dash goalkeeper finished with 10 saves against Boston, including her 100th save of the regular season in the 90th minute, marking the second time in her career she has reached the 100-save mark in a single season.
Colaprico made a key block in the 28th minute to deny Traoré at the near post following a turnover. Houston nearly doubled its lead moments later after Rader delivered a cross into the box for midfielder Kiki Van Zanten, but the cross narrowly missed the Jamaican international.
Campbell was well positioned in the 70th minute to deny Amanda Gutierres at the goal line. The Dash captain entered the match with the second most saves in the league at 94.
Houston created another opportunity in the 76th minute after Rader played the ball to midfielder Maggie Graham. Graham curled an effort toward goal, but Murphy jumped to make the save.
Midfielder Sophie Schmidt made an immediate impact after entering the match in the 85th minute, forcing a save from the Boston goalkeeper with a right-footed effort from inside the box. The appearance marked Schmidt’s first since Aug. 8 against the Kansas City Current.
The Dash close their two-game road trip on Saturday, Sept. 26 against Portland Thorns FC at Providence Park. Fans can follow the action live on ION starting at 7:45 p.m. CT.
