Kroger & Houston Dynamo Football Club team up to vaccinate players & staff

The Houston Dynamo Football Club and Kroger teamed up for the second time in as many weeks today, as Kroger pharmacists administered the first round of COVID-19 vaccines to Houston Dynamo FC and Houston Dash players and staff.

Kroger is the Official Retail Grocery Partner of the Club; and Houston-area Kroger stores are set up to administer approved COVID-19 vaccines to all Houstonians over the age of 18 following the State of Texas’ announcement that all adults are eligible to receive the vaccine beginning today.

“We are thrilled to be able to support the Houston Dynamo Football Club in vaccinating their teams. This is just one of many vaccination clinics we are holding almost daily across Greater Houston in an effort to vaccinate our communities,” said Joe Kelley, President of Kroger Houston. “Kroger Health has increased vaccine capacity in an effort to provide one million doses per week. We strongly encourage Houstonians to get their vaccine at the earliest convenience – let’s be part of the solution together.”

Last Tuesday, the Texas Department of State Health Services announced that eligibility for COVID-19 vaccines was expanding to include all adults. Houstonians are encouraged to visit Kroger.com/rx/covid-eligibility to find stores near them administering the vaccine and to sign up for an appointment.

“After the state announced that they were expanding eligibility to all Texans over 18 last week, our partners at Kroger reached out to us to help raise awareness and encourage people to get vaccinated,” said Houston Dynamo FC President John Walker. “Getting everyone vaccinated is an important step in the process of returning to normalcy, and hopefully seeing our players get vaccinated will encourage others to follow suit.”

Throughout the pandemic, Kroger has remained an industry leader in offering diagnostic COVID-19 testing solutions, supportive care services and vaccine administration, supported by its team of experienced healthcare providers. The company was the nation’s first retailer to offer rapid antibody tests to customers. Now, the significant increase of COVID-19 vaccinations deepens Kroger Health’s commitment to slowing the spread of COVID-19 and helping America heal.
