HOUSTON (March 20, 2026) – Houston Dynamo 2 wrap up a season-opening, four-match homestand on Saturday, March 21, hosting fierce rivals North Texas SC at SaberCats Stadium. This is the first of three matchups between the two sides this season and the only match in Houston this year.
The fixture is set to kick off at 5:00 p.m. CT, and fans can claim free tickets to every Dynamo Dos home match via Tixr.
Dynamo 2 enter this weekend’s match on a three-match winning streak, ranking second in the league in goals scored (11) and sitting first in clean sheets (3). The team currently sits at the top of the Western Conference with nine points and a 3-0-0 (WLD) record, while being the only team in MLS NEXT Pro who have not conceded a goal in 2026.
Houston secured another dominant performance this past Sunday, earning a 5-0 shutout victory over Portland Timbers2 at SaberCats Stadium. Notably, the five-goal performance earned the team MLS NEXT Pro Team of Matchweek 3 honors, with seven players contributing to the scoring effort, including 15-year-old MatthewArana, who scored his first professional goal, and forward Arthur Sousa, who recorded his first Dynamo 2 goal and assist. Additionally, Brazilian goalkeeper Pedro Cruz added three saves to secure the team’s third consecutive clean sheet.
The match also featured several milestone performances, including forward Jahmani “JJ” Bell and defender Vinicius Silva each scoring their first professional goals, midfielders Gustavo Dohmann and Gilberto Riverarecording their first professional assists and attacker Tomáš Wiesner netting his first Dynamo 2 goal.
Dynamo 2 signed defender Eiji Hata last week after he completed his junior and senior seasons at Seattle University. He made 33 appearances and five assists, helping the Redhawks post a 12-4-4 (WLD) record in 2024, win the 2024 Western Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Tournament title and earn a berth into the 2024 NCAA Men’s Division I Soccer Championship.
Notably, Dynamo Academy player Mattheo Dimareli, a regular with Dynamo 2, has been called up to the U.S. U-17 Men’s National Team for a training camp in Ypané, Paraguay.
North Texas have opened their season with four points through three matches, most recently falling 1-0 on the road to Austin FC II. The team currently sits seventh in the Western Conference with a 1-1-1 (WLD) record.
In 2025, Houston and North Texas each recorded one win, one loss and one draw against each other. Notably, Dynamo 2 earned a 5-1 victory early in the season, with midfielder Diego Gonzalez and former Dynamo Academy player Lukas Bruegmann each registering a goal and an assist, while midfielder Enrique Correra, forward Myles Gardner and forward Exon Arzú also contributed goals.
After next week's bye, Houston kicks off a 10-game road trip, the longest of the season and in team history, by traveling first to face Austin FC II on Sunday, April 12, at Parmer Field.
