HOUSTON (March 15, 2026) – Houston Dynamo 2 signed defender Eiji Hata to an MLS NEXT Pro contract through 2026 with a Club option for 2027, the Club announced today.

"His work rate, professionalism and versatility will add valuable depth to the group and support a strong team environment. We look forward to supporting his development in Houston and the role he will play within our program.”
Hata joins Dynamo 2 after completing his junior and senior seasons at Seattle University, totaling 33 appearances and five assists while helping the Redhawks post a 12-4-4 (WLD) record in 2024, win the 2024 Western Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Tournament title and earn a berth into the 2024 NCAA Men’s Division I Soccer Championship.
Prior to his time in Seattle, Hata began his collegiate career at NJCAA Division II school at Phoenix College, where he recorded 38 appearances, four goals and 10 assists. He helped the Bears finish the season with a strong 14-1-4 (WLD) record, including a 9-1-2 (WLD) record in conference play and a 5-1-0 (WLD) away from home record. Notably, he helped lead Phoenix College to its first ever NJCAA DII Men’s Soccer Championship final appearance, coming up just short after double overtime and a penalty shootout.
