HOUSTON (July 10, 2026) – Houston Dynamo 2 continue their four-match homestand on Saturday, July 11, when they host St. Louis CITY2 at SaberCats Stadium, marking the second of three meetings between the two sides this season. Dynamo 2 visited St. Louis earlier this year, earning a 4-1 victory in May, with four different players finding the back of the net, including attacker Mattheo Dimareli, midfielder Noah Betancourt, forward Jahmani “JJ” Bell and striker Austin Brummett. Notably, the four-goal performance earned the team MLS NEXT Pro Team of Matchweek 10 honors.
Dos opened the 2026 season with a team-record 11-match unbeaten streak, where they recorded 31 points, 28 goals and 20 assists, while leading in fewest goals conceded in open play (four) during that span. All that was despite a league-record 10-match road trip that stretched from March to July due to DR Congo calling SaberCats home during the FIFA World Cup 2026™.
Houston is now coming off a dominant 4-0 shutout victory over Minnesota United FC 2 at Shell Energy Stadium last weekend, earning Dos MLS NEXT Pro Team of Matchweek 18 for the third time this season. The match was highlighted by a standout performance from defender Reese Miller, who registered his second goal and second assist of the season. Goalkeeper Logan Erb recorded his first clean sheet of the season, the team’s seventh shutout of the year, while Dynamo Academy defender Brogan Fitzsimons made his professional debut after coming on as a substitute in the 79th minute.
Dynamo 2 currently sit second in the Western Conference standings with a 10-3-2 (WLD) record. Individually, goalkeeper Pedro Cruz sets third in the league in clean sheets (five) and is tied for third with 48 saves, while Brummett is tied for third in goals scored (eight).
CITY2 is coming off a 3-0 loss at North Texas SC on July 4. They closed the month of June with a 0-2-1 (WLD) record and currently sit fifth in the Western Conference standings with 29 points and a 7-5-5 (WLD) overall record. Individually, Palmer Ault leads the team’s attack with eight goals and five assists.
Just this week, Cruz, the reigning Goalie Wars champ, was selected to participate in the 2026 Goalie Wars as part of a revamped 2026 MLS All-Star Skills Challenge, presented by AT&T, on Tuesday, July 28, at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, NC.
Additionally, first team midfielder Matthew Arana and Fitzsimons were selected to represent the Club at the 2026 MLS NEXT All-Star Game, presented by Allstate, on Monday, July 27, at Mecklenburg County Sportsplex in Matthews, NC. Arana signed a Homegrown contract with the first team in February this year, while Fitzsimons plays with the Academy’s U-18s at the age of 15.
