HOUSTON (Sept. 5, 2025) - The Houston Dash visit Snapdragon Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 7 to face San Diego Wave FC. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT, and fans can follow the match live on ESPN in English or ESPN Deportes in Spanish. The Dash currently sit four points behind the eighth and final playoff spot with eight matches to play in the regular season. Five of those matches, including Sunday’s game in San Diego, will be against teams currently in a playoff position.

The team enters the weekend unbeaten in their last five matches and looks to extend a strong run of form since league play resumed on Aug. 2. The team has posted a 2-0-3 (WLD) record in this stretch and a positive result on Sunday would lead to the team’s third ever six-game unbeaten streak. The Dash first reached that mark during the 2017 season and again in 2022. A strong second half outing has fueled this stretch and that was evident in Houston’s 1-1 draw with Racing Louisville FC last week following a goal from forward Evelina Duljan in stoppage time.

The Dash have become the league’s comeback specialists. A league-leading seven different substitutes have scored this season, with six of those goals flipping the scoreline — the most in a single campaign in NWSL history. Houston has also earned 12 points from losing positions, more than any other team this year.

Forward Yazmeen Ryan tallied the assist on Duljan’s goal in Louisville last Friday, her second assist of the season. Ryan has contributed to three goals in the last four games, scoring the equalizer against Seattle Reign FC on Aug. 25 and adding an assist on the game-winning goal against the North Carolina Courage on Aug. 8 at Shell Energy Stadium.

Defensively, captain Jane Campbell tallied five saves against Racing Louisville FC with two key saves coming in the final minutes of the match against former teammates. The first was a point-blank range save against Marisa DiGrande and her final save of the match came in stoppage time when she denied a long-range effort from Courtney Petersen.

Notably, defender Lisa Boattin received her visa earlier this week and will be eligible for selection on Sunday. The Italian international joined the team during the secondary transfer market following a legendary career with Juventus, where she won 14 domestic titles.

San Diego earned a point in their last outing, a scoreless draw against Seattle Reign FC at Lumen Field last Friday. Goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan recorded five saves to secure her fifth clean sheet of the season. She currently owns one of the league’s best goals-against averages at 1.06 through 18 matches.

San Diego boasts one of the league’s top offenses, with 28 goals this season and 89 shots on target — both top-three marks in league play. Adriana Leon and Kimmi Ascanio lead the team with four goals each, while two additional players on the active roster have scored three apiece.

The Wave claimed three points in their visit to Shell Energy Stadium earlier this season on June 14. Midfielder Barbara Olivieri and Ryan scored for the Dash in the 3-2 loss at home. Olivieri contributed to both goals in Houston’s last outing against the Wave at Snapdragon Stadium in 2024 and Houston claimed three points with a 2-0 victory. That triumph marked Houston’s first win in the series and first three points on the road in San Diego.

Houston close this three-game road trip on Sunday, Sept. 14 as they face Utah Royals FC in Salt Lake City. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT and fans can follow the action on NWSL+ or Paramount +. The team returns to Shell Energy Stadium to celebrate Noche Latina on Friday, Sept. 19 when they host Chicago Stars FC. Tickets for that match and all Dash matches are available at HoustonDash.com.
