HOUSTON (May 7, 2024) – The* Houston Dash* return to Shell Energy Stadium on Wednesday, May 8 to host the reigning NWSL champion, NJ/NY Gotham FC at 7 p.m. CT.

The Dash look to build on their draw with the Kansas City Current on Sunday evening. The Dash trailed going into the locker room at halftime but secured a share of the points following Amanda West’s first NWSL goal. The rookie forward was well positioned to capitalize on a loose ball after Barbara Olivieri forced a turnover inside the box.

Dash goalkeeper Jane Campbell finished with 12 saves on Sunday, matching the league record for the most saves in a single game. This was only the second time Kansas City was limited to one goal or less this season. Campbell leads the league with 40 saves through seven matches, nearly twice as many as the next goalkeeper, Bay FC’s Lysianne Proulx.

This was the second time this season that Houston secured a result from a losing position this season. The team has earned four points after trailing in a match. Only two teams have recovered more points this season, the Kansas City Current (six points) and Washington Spirit (six points).

Gotham defeated the North Carolina Courage over the weekend and are unbeaten in their last two games. Gotham opened the season with a 1-0 victory on the road over Portland Thorns FC, their lone victory away from home this season. Wednesday’s game is the first of a two-game road trip for the defending champions who close the week in San Diego.

Houston won the series in 2023 following a draw at Shell Energy Stadium on June 11, 2023 and a 2-0 victory on the road last October. Michelle Alozie scored two goals in the victory at Red Bull Arena and Jane Campbell tallied her eighth clean sheet of the season.

The Dash will close the week in California as they travel to Los Angeles to face Angel City FC on Sunday, May 13 at BMO Stadium. The team returns to Shell Energy Stadium on Friday, May 17 to host the Portland Thorns. The match on May 17 is the first of two Pups at the Pitch games this season and fans can click HERE for more information about the event.
