The Spring 2019 US Soccer Development Academy season kicked off for the Dynamo Academy’s older teams last weekend, with the Under-15s, U-17s and U-19s all taking on Texans SC in College Station. The boys in orange went 2-1 against Texans, with the 15s notching a 3-1 victory and the 19s winning 3-2 while the 17s dropped a close 2-1 decision.

The Under-19 side emerged victorious thanks in large part to the exploits of captain Jesse Ortiz. After training with the Dynamo First Team and RGV FC for two weeks, the midfielder returned to action against his peers like a seasoned pro, scoring a hat trick in the 3-2 decision. Three players from the U-17 side – goalkeeper Isaac Acevedo, defender Erick Monge and forward Kaya Ignacio – played up with the 19s on the weekend and performed admirably in the victory. Next up for the 19s will be a match against Lonestar SC in Round Rock on Feb. 24.

With three of their own players moving up an age level, the Dynamo Under-17s welcomed in three members of the U-15 side, including midfielder Alex Borsos and defender Hans Leza, who were both fresh off a trip to California to train with the U-15 Boys National Team. The pair were joined by U-15 teammate midfielder Ronaldo Guzman. Midfielder Diego Gonzalez was the goalscorer for the Dynamo boys, whose next test will come this weekend in the Generation adidas Cup at Houston Sports Park.

Like their older Academy mates, the Under-15s replenished their rosters with players from the younger ranks. U-14 midfielder Mateo Pinilla played up a level and started, and he was joined on the roster by midfielder Iyke Dafe and forward Ricardo Garcia. Midfielder Joseph Farouz bagged a brace in the 3-1 win, scoring the first and third goals of the game, while midfielder D’Allessandro Herrera netted the match-winner. The win gives the Dynamo boys some solid momentum as they head into the GA Cup this weekend at Houston Sports Park.

At the younger levels, the U-11 team had no scheduled game, so they played a pair of friendly scrimmages with local teams, and the U-14s scrimmaged Cedar Stars. The U-13 side took to the training pitch, and the U-12s saw their games against Lonestar SC rained out. The 14s welcomed in one player from the U-13 side, midfielder Luis Moreno, in their scrimmage as well.
