As part of the upcoming Dynamo Charities Weekend, we’re looking at the impact that Dynamo Charities has had on our community in recent years through the lens of their four pillars. This is Part Four: Youth & Community Development Through Soccer.

The power of soccer in our local community cannot be overstated. Dynamo Charities proudly supports free-to-play soccer clinics and spaces throughout the city of Houston to strengthen our city and invest in the well-being of its children. To date, 2,000 children in the greater Houston area have received free soccer programming through Dynamo Charities’ efforts.

In addition to an annual Science of Soccer STEM Program that is held each year offering teachers a full STEM curriculum centered around the sport of soccer, Dynamo Charities – along with partners Shell Energy – host Fubolito in the City eight times annually. This program provides free soccer programming to children across Houston.

Perhaps one of the biggest programs piloted by the organization, Dynamo Charities in the midst of providing the city of Houston fifteen mini-pitches – spaces that provide safe places for children to play soccer in our community. Most recently, Dynamo Charities opened hosted a ground breaking ceremony for mini-pitch numbers 16 & 17 at Burnett-Bayland Park. This project is supported by the U.S. Soccer Foundation and members of our current and former ownership groups.

Finally, as part of AllState’s Every Save Makes a Difference, Dynamo Charities helps to provide free soccer equipment for local schools with every save made on a nationally televised  Houston Dynamo FC game on TUDN.  In total the team has donated more than $10,000 worth of soccer equipment this season to local community groups and schools.
