The Dynamo face Austin FC for the third time this season on Saturday as they travel to Q2 Stadium to close the week. Houston opened the week with a 4-1 victory over the San Jose Earthquakes at Shell Energy Stadium on Wednesday.

Amine Bassi scored the opening goal just minutes into the match when he forced a turnover inside the box. Corey Baird scored the second goal of the game in the fifth minute off a cross from Nelson Quiñónes. The game was delayed by two hours and 15 minutes due to inclement weather near the stadium. Thor Ulfarsson tallied a brace following the return to play, the first of his professional career. Captain Hector Herrera tallied assists on both goals in the second half and currently leads the team with seven assists.

Ulfarsson and Herrera were named to the MLSSoccer.com Team of the Matchday for Matchday 20 for their performance. Seven players have now earned the honor this season and this latest honor was the fourth for Herrera in 2023.

The Dynamo have earned back-to-back victories over Austin FC this season, both at Shell Energy Stadium. Houston defeated Austin 2-0 in the home opener on March 18 and again on May 27 with goals from Herrera and Ivan Franco.

Austin FC opened this two game homestand with a 3-0 victory over FC Dallas on Wednesday. Sebastián Driussi recently returned from injury and has scored two goals in his last four games.

Houston travels to Seattle on July 1 to close this two-game road trip and return to Shell Energy Stadium on July 8 to host Sporting Kansas City.
