The Houston Dynamo will host 2015 Liga MX Clausura champions Santos Laguna on Saturday, October 10 at BBVA Compass Stadium in the 2015 edition of the Dynamo Charities Cup, presented by BBVA Compass.

Founded in 1983, Santos has won five Mexican First Division titles, including the 2015 Clausura championship. In addition, Los Guerreros won the Copa MX tournament (Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup equivalent) in 2014 and were twice runners up in the CONCACAF Champions League (2012, 2013).

“The Dynamo, alongside our partners at BBVA Compass, are thrilled to be hosting Santos Laguna in this edition of the Dynamo Charities Cup,” Dynamo president Chris Canetti said. “Having the Liga MX Champions here to play the Dynamo is a special opportunity. We look forward to a great event that will thrill our fans with exciting soccer and benefit the community through the work of Dynamo Charities and BBVA Compass.”

The BBVA Compass Dynamo Charities Cup is part of the “Building a Better Houston” initiative, a campaign led by Dynamo Charities, presented by the Halliburton Charitable Foundation, and BBVA Compass to make improvements in Houston’s East End. The annual game funds Junior Achievement scholarships and the Business of Sports program for high school students in the fall.

"It's fitting that we sponsor an international match like the Dynamo Charities Cup," said BBVA Compass Chairman and CEO Manolo Sánchez. "We are a global organization, and more importantly, giving back is part of our DNA. This event is just one way we're able to provide a brighter future for the communities we call home."

The game, originally scheduled for May 28, will kick off at 7:00 p.m. CT. Tickets part of the season ticket package for the Dynamo Charities Cup match against Manchester City F.C. will be valid for this match. Season Ticket Members do not need to take additional actions if they have their original game tickets. Santos Laguna feature several prominent Mexican and international players, including Argentina National Team goalkeeper Agustin Marchesin, Colombia National team forward Andres Rentería, Chile National Team midfielder Bryan Rabello, and former Mexico National Team forward Javier Chuletita Orozco.

"We are very pleased to be a part of this match, not only because we are playing a great club in Houston Dynamo, but we are also able to support such a great cause in the Dynamo Charities Cup,” Santos Laguna commercial director Manuel Portilla said. “At Santos Laguna we are very familiar with these charitable causes, through our social responsibility initiative "Guerreros de Corazón" (Warriors with Heart), and are always willing to serve those who need it most."

Santos Laguna are the seventh international opponent to face the Dynamo in the Dynamo Charities Cup, following Aston Villa (England), Stoke City (England), Valencia (Spain), Bolton Wanderers (England), Club Deportivo Aguila (El Salvador) and CF Monterrey (Mexico).

"I think it’s a fantastic occasion for everybody. Most importantly, it’s the Dynamo Charities Cup and the fact that people that benefit from that is enormous,” Dynamo head coach Owen Coyle said. “It’s great for the Houston community, not only to see the Dynamo team that represents them but to bring Santos Laguna, the Mexican champions, into Houston will be a magnificent occasion."
