The qualifying round of the eMLS League Series 1 concluded on Wednesday evening and Houston Dynamo FC eMLS athlete George Adamou carried his success from the first day of the tournament into the second. The former Adelphi University soccer player, who plays under the gamertag GAdamou10, went undefeated in the second day of qualifying to bring his two-day record to 9-2-3, which left him tied in fifth place with Nashville SC’s Joksan and Sporting Kansas City’s Alekzandur.

By finishing in the top eight, Adamou moves through to the knockout stage of League Series 1, where he will have a chance to claim a share of a $20,000 prize pool. The knockout stage will begin at 2 p.m. CST on Saturday, when Adamou will take on DC United’s KingCJ0 in a two-legged match up.

This will be the second matchup between Adamou and KingCJ0 in this tournament, as they squared off Wednesday in the third round of games on the day. After winning his first two matches of the day, Adamou found himself down 1-0 late in the game, but pulled himself even in the 90th minute to finish in a tightly contested 1-1 draw that is sure to heighten the stakes of the knockout round this weekend.

Adamou followed this draw up with two wins over opponents from Atlanta United and Saint Louis City SC. In the last matchup of the evening, Adamou faced off against in-state rival Austin FC and their eMLS representative, xVerde. The match ended in a 2-2 draw to keep Adamou undefeated on the day.
