Houston Dash sign DF Clare Polkinghorne

The Houston Dash have signed Australian defender Clare Polkinghorne as, pending receipt of her International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and P-1 visa, the club announced today.

The Australian international joins Houston from the Australian W-League's Brisbane Roar FC where she won two championships during the 2008-09 and 2010-11 seasons. In 2017, the defender became the first player in W-League history to play in 100 regular-season games. Polkinghorne led Brisbane to its third Premiership, finishing as the best regular-season team during the 2017-18 season.

Internationally, Polkinghorne has earned 97 caps with Australia and has represented the Matildas at the 2007 and 2011 FIFA Women's World Cups and made the roster for the 2015 edition of the tournament.

This will be Polkinghorne's second stint in the NWSL after she previously appeared in nine games for Portland Thorns FC in 2015.

Houston returns to NWSL play on Friday, June 22 at 7:30 p.m. against Tobin Heath, Lindsay Horan and the Thorns at BBVA Compass Stadium. Tickets for the match start at $19 and are available at HoustonDashSoccer.com.
