The Houston Dash signed midfielder Andrea Hauksdottir to a one-year contract through the 2021 season, the Club announced today.
Hauksdottir joins Houston after spending a year at Icelandās Breidablik FC and Le Havre AC from the Division 1 Femenine in France. The Kopavogur, Iceland native began her professional career in Europe after graduating from the University of South Florida, spending four successful seasons from 2016 to 2020. Hauksdottir started in all 78 appearances for the Bulls, scoring 18 goals and tallying 26 assists. The midfielder earned The American Midfielder of the Year twice in her collegiate career and earned All-Conference First Team honors for three consecutive years.
After graduating in May of 2020, the midfielder moved back home to sign a professional deal with Breidablik FC in Icelandās top-tier womenās football league. There, Hauksdottir scored a goal in 21 appearances in 2020 before going on a loan to Le Havre, where she posted seven appearances.
Hauksdottir has been part of the Icelandic Womenās National Team since her first youth callup in 2012 with the U-16 team. Since then, she joined the U-17, U-18 and U-19 teams before making her first senior team appearance in 2016. Hauksfottir has scored two goals in 11 appearances ever since. Most recently, Andrea was part of Icelandās starting lineup in their international friendly against Italy on April 13, and was named today to Icelandās squad for two friendlies against Ireland on June 11 and June 15.
