HOUSTON (Feb. 3, 2026) – Houston Dynamo 2 signed young Brazilian midfielder Gustavo Dohmann on loan for the 2026 MLS NEXT Pro season with an option to buy from Fluminense FC in Brazil, both clubs announced today.
“Gustavo is an exciting young talent from Brazil, having developed in the Fluminense academy, one of the premier development environments in South America,” said Dynamo Assistant General Manager Nick Kowba. “He is a highly competitive player who brings intensity, quality and personality on both sides of the ball. We believe Gustavo has significant upside, and Dynamo 2 provides the right environment for him to continue his development while pushing him towards the next level. We are excited to welcome him to Houston and look forward to helping him reach his full potential.”
Dohmann began his youth career in Fluminense’s academy at the age of nine, quickly progressing through the youth categories before establishing himself as a regular member of the club’s U-20 squad from 2023-25. There, he made 45 appearances in all competitions, while scoring two goals during the 2024 Campeonato Brasileiro Sub-20 season against Clube Atlético Mineiro U-20 and Grêmio FBPA U-20.
The defensive midfielder also impressed in the 2023 and 2025 Otávio Pinto Guimarães tournaments, playing a key role in Fluminense U-20's title victories in both years. During the 2025 triumph, Dohmann featured in six of the seven matches, including both legs of the final versus Botafogo U-20, and scored one goal. In the 2023 title run, he appeared in all five matches and also scored once.
At the international stage, Dohmann has represented Brazil at the U-15 level and was most recently called up to training camp with the senior national team under head coach Carlo Ancelotti in September 2025.
The Dynamo have recent success in signing players from Fluminense, including young defender Felipe Andrade and veteran defender Antônio Carlos. Originally signed to a one-year loan with Dynamo 2, Houston exercised Andrade’s first-team purchase option in September last year. The Dynamo signed Carlos on a free transfer in July last year. Both players earned consistent starting roles with the first team in 2025 and will compete to do so again in 2026.
