HOUSTON (Aug. 28, 2026) – As part of their preparation for the 2026-27 MLS NEXT season, the Houston Dynamo Academy has been invited by the Federación Mexicana de Fútbol (FMF) to participate in the Torneo 4 Naciones.
The Dynamo Academy's 2010/11 squad will travel to Mexico City for the international tournament, training alongside and competing against the youth squads of Mexico, Panama and Peru at the FMF’s Centro de Alto Rendimento (High Performance Center).
“We are proud of the strong relationship our Club has built with the Mexican Football Federation, and we appreciate the opportunity for our Academy to participate in Torneo 4 Naciones,” said Houston Dynamo FC President of Soccer Pat Onstad. “The opportunity to travel internationally and compete against some of the region’s top youth national teams provides a valuable experience for our young players as they prepare for their upcoming MLS NEXT season.”
All games will be played from August 29-31, with Houston’s match schedule below:
- Saturday, Aug. 29, at 12:00 p.m. CT – Dynamo Academy vs. U-15 Peru
- Sunday, Aug. 30, at 12:00 p.m. CT – Dynamo Academy vs. U-15 Panama
- Monday, Aug. 31, at 10:00 a.m. CT – Dynamo Academy vs. U-15 Mexico
Multiple Dynamo Academy players have made their mark with Houston Dynamo 2, the Club's MLS NEXT Pro affiliate, helping lead the squad to one of the top spots in the Western Conference this season. Dos has fielded one of the youngest rosters in MLSNP over the past three seasons, with 19 different Dynamo Academy age players already featuring for the affiliate team this year. Within that group, five have made their professional debuts, including Tristan Cottle, Brogan Fitzsimons, Jazinho Perez, Dylan Reyes and KianWalsh. The roster also features a strong core of Academy graduates that have signed professional contracts, including Matthew Arana, Jahmani "JJ" Bell, Noah Betancourt, Enrique Correra, Mattheo Dimareli and Samir Mohammad.
In addition to sitting fourth overall in the league (including the Western and Eastern Conference) and already clinching their place in the MLS NEXT Pro 2026 Playoffs, Dynamo 2 has been fueled by significant contributions from academy players, who have recorded 11,234 minutes this season, putting Dos among the top ten teams in the league in minutes played by academy players.
Under the leadership of Academy General Manager Bryan Scales and Academy Technical Director ScottHowey, the Dynamo Academy has produced several standout players who represent HDFC at the youth international level, including but not limited to Arana (Mexico), Daniel Barrett (United States), Bell (Jamaica), Dimareli (Mexico and United States), Myles Gardner (United States), Chris Gonzalez (Mexico and United States) and Reyes (Mexico). Notably, Gonzalez will participate in the Torneo 4 Naciones with the Mexican Youth National Team, while Reyes will represent the Dynamo Academy at the same tournament before joining the Mexico U-16s for international camp on Sept. 1.
The invitation to Torneo 4 Naciones marks the first time the Dynamo Academy will participate in an international training camp against national teams. Dynamo fans can follow the @DynamoAcademy on Instagram on X for updates throughout the event.
