The Houston Dynamo have acquired the full acquisition rights for forward Mauro Manotas from UniautĆ³noma FC, his former club in Colombia, the Dynamo announced today.

When the Dynamo initially signed Manotas to a transfer agreement from UniautĆ³noma in 2015, the Colombian club retained a portion of his acquisition rights. This transaction gives the Dynamo full ownership of Manotasā€™ acquisition rights moving forward.

The Dynamo acquired the full acquisition rights and re-signed the 21-year-old Colombian striker using Targeted Allocation Money (TAM). The 21-year-old striker will no longer occupy a Designated Player spot on the Dynamo first-team roster, with the addition of Young Designated player Alberth Elis per MLS roster rules.

ā€œWe are pleased to fully secure the rights of Mauro Manotas with the Houston Dynamo after a lengthy process,ā€ said Dynamo Vice President and General Manager Matt Jordan. ā€œMauro is a young and talented player who has adapted well to our city and club. Heā€™s a goal scorer who has demonstrated his quality and upside at a young age, and we look forward to his continued growth with the Houston Dynamo.ā€

The Dynamo now have one of their three Designated Player slots on their roster available, with forwards Elis and Erick Torres filling the other two spots.
