Houston Dynamo FC exercise 2022 contract options on seven players

Houston Dynamo FC exercised contract options for seven players following the 2021 MLS regular season, the Club announced today. The Dynamo have an additional 17 players under contract and enter the offseason with 24 players under contract.  

Houston exercised 2022 contract options on midfielder Darwin Cerén, forward Griffin Dorsey, defender Sam Junqua, forward Nico Lemoine, forward Tyler Pasher, midfielder Marcelo Palomino and forward Fafa Picault.  

The Club declined the 2022 contract options for the following players: defender Jose Bizama, defender Maynor Figueroa, defender Erik McCue, goalkeeper Marko Maric, goalkeeper Kyle Morton, forward Darwin Quintero and forward Maxi Urruti.    

Defender Alejandro Fuenmayor and midfielder Boniek Garcia are out of contract.  

Goalkeeper Michael Nelson and the team reached an agreement on a new contract through the end of 2023 season and a club option for 2024. The club is currently in talks with select players about returning for the 2022 season.  

The Dynamo enter the 2022 offseason with the following players under contract: forward Corey Baird, forward Mateo Bajamich, defender Ethan Barlow, midfielder Adalberto Carrasquilla, Homegrown midfielder Juan Castilla, midfielder Joe Corona, defender Teenage Hadebe, defender Ian Hoffmann, midfielder Derrick Jones, forward Ari Lassiter, defender Adam Lundkvist, defender Tim Parker, Academy alum Daniel Rios, midfielder Memo Rodriguez, defender Zarek Valentin and midfielder Matias Vera.
