HOUSTON, TX (June 8, 2026) — Today, Houston Dynamo FC and Meow Wolf Houston officially unveiledFrequency of the City, a stunning new large-scale mural that will be on display on the north plaza wall of Shell Energy Stadium. Created by Houston icon and Meow Wolf Artist Liaison GONZO247, the vibrant artwork serves as a major public welcome to the city for visitors during the club’s Houston Dynamo Soccer Celebration.

The piece represents the latest installment in Shell Energy Stadium's ongoing tradition of rotating public murals. Operating as a living wall, the space continuously welcomes successive generations of local creators to tell Houston's evolving stories. Positioned on the north side of the stadium, the spectacular mural is free and fully accessible to the general public.

Frequency of the City seamlessly blends Houston’s rich past, dynamic present, and boundless future into a single, evolving signal. Throughout the massive composition, GONZO247 masterfully layers prominent nods to the city's unique creative identity—ranging from local graffiti lineage to legendary slab culture, complete with candy paint gradients and chrome swangas rims. At the center of the action, larger-than-life soccer players are captured mid-motion in an electric display of athletic energy. As the piece expands across the wall, it merges into a warped perspective of abstraction where Meow Wolf’s distinct Radio Tave world collides directly with Houston’s own heritage. Inspired by Meow Wolf Houston’s “Change Your Frequency” ethos, the mural broadcasts the city's creative spirit outward to welcome both lifelong Houstonians and international visitors into a shared cultural moment.

The project marks a deeply personal homecoming for GONZO247. A Houston native with profound roots in the surrounding East Downtown (EaDo) neighborhood, Gonzo has a long-standing history with Shell Energy Stadium. In addition to his independent work, he serves as Artist Liaison to Meow Wolf Houston, where he directly collaborates with and supports the 30 to 40 local Houston artists contributing to the interior of their permanent exhibition.

"I've been painting in this city my whole life, and this neighborhood has always been part of that story," said GONZO247, Meow Wolf Houston Artist Liaison. "This wall has held real work by real Houston artists. Getting to tell the story of where this city came from, where it stands right now, and where it's going, that's not something I take lightly."

"We are honored to collaborate with the incredible creative minds at Meow Wolf to offer an exciting new canvas for creativity at Shell Energy Stadium," said Houston Dynamo Chief Revenue Officer Nico Zini. "Frequency of the City showcases the hustle and creativity that make Houston the incredible city that we love, and we're immensely grateful to GONZO247 for bringing this terrific piece to our home."

The north plaza wall at Shell Energy Stadium has long served as a massive canvas for public art, with each unique iteration reflecting a distinct moment in the city's creative conversation. Dragon76's Soccer Adventurers—produced in March 2024 in partnership with Street Art for Mankind, Downtown Houston, and Harris County Precinct One—was the most recent masterpiece to grace the wall before Frequency of the City. The enduring legacy of this space, defined by a willingness to elevate new voices while honoring the foundations built before them, is precisely what drove the club to partner with Meow Wolf and GONZO247.

As two prominent local institutions deeply dedicated to celebrating community culture, the partnership between Houston Dynamo FC and Meow Wolf Houston is a natural fit. Rooted in the rich diversity of the region and the Dynamo’s iconic local legacy, Frequency of the City underscores both organizations' commitment to cementing Houston as a premier global arts and sports entertainment force. Carefully timed to capture the global energy surrounding this summer’s FIFA celebrations, the public-facing mural stands ready to welcome passionate fans and international travelers arriving in Houston from all over the world.

Fans and visitors can view Frequency of the City today on the north side of Shell Energy Stadium.
