HOUSTON (Aug. 29, 2026) – Houston Dynamo FC played the San Jose Earthquakes to a scoreless draw at Shell Energy Stadium on Saturday night, marking Houston's tenth clean sheet of the season, and the sixth shutout in the last seven matches.
The result adds to the team's home record this season, which now stands at 7-2-2 (WLD), and also maintains a strong all-time home record versus San Jose, supplementing a 13-3-2 (WLD) record.
The Dynamo remain one of the hottest teams in the Western Conference, sitting second in the standings with a 10-3-3 (W-L-D) record over the past 16 matches for 33 points.
Goalkeeper Jonathan Bond was called into action in the 14th minute when a low cross from the right side found Ousseni Bouda at the near post, but the veteran shot stopper stayed low and strong to corral the ball and quell the danger. Bond made four saves on the evening.
In the 58th minute, a terrific nutmeg from forward Lawrence Ennali on San Jose’s Reid Roberts set up a free kick in a dangerous area for Houston. Midfielder Jack McGlynn fired from just outside the box but curled wide of the far post for a Quakes goal kick.
Five minutes later, McGlynn and Ennali combined on another chance with a lovely give-and-go inside the San Jose penalty area. McGlynn fired low on the right foot. The shot seemed destined for the far post, but a late intervention from a Roberts sent the shot over the endline for a San Jose corner.
The Dynamo would generate a late chance in the 99th minute, as a deflected cross found forward Aliyu Ibrahim, who attempted an ambitious bicycle kick near the top of the box. The shot went wide of frame, and the final whistle blew to share the spoils.
Houston next travels to face Charlotte FC in an inter-conference matchup on Saturday, Sept. 5, at Bank of America Stadium, with kickoff set for 6:30 p.m. CT. Fans can watch the match live via Apple TV.
