Houston Dynamo FC transfer forward Ezequiel Ponce to Elche CF in Spain’s La Liga

HOUSTON (Aug. 14, 2026) – Houston Dynamo FC have transferred forward Ezequiel Ponce to Elche CF in Spain’s La Liga, both clubs announced today. 

Ponce signed with the Dynamo on a full transfer from AEK Athens in Greece in June 2024. The 29-year-old Argentinian forward totaled 59 MLS appearances with the Dynamo, scoring 15 goals and recording three assists. 

Ponce contributed to Houston’s stellar 2024 campaign, helping the Dynamo set new single-season Club records in points (54) and road wins (8), while allowing the third-fewest goals across MLS play (39) and record 10 clean sheets across all competitions. 

The Dynamo currently sit fourth in the Western Conference standings, just two points away from the top spot, and are the hottest team in the Western Conference over the past 12 matches, compiling an 8-2-2 record for 26 points over that stretch. Notably, Houston has earned three consecutive shutout victories and has not conceded a goal in nearly 300 minutes.
