HOUSTON (Feb. 14, 2026) – Houston Dynamo FC claimed the inaugural **Torneo de Tejas** preseason tournament title on Saturday afternoon after defeating Red Bull New York 3-2 at Shell Energy Stadium behind a hat trick from forward Guilherme.
Houston finished atop the four-team table undefeated with eight points and a 2-0-1 (WLD) record. The Dynamo opened the tournament with a 1-1 draw against Atlanta United FC in regulation before earning two points in a penalty shootout, followed by a 2-1 victory over in-state rivals FC Dallas to earn a full three points on the road.
Guilherme gave Houston an early lead in the ninth minute with a direct free kick towards the far post from the left side of the field. Two minutes into the second half, the Brazilian attacker scored his second of the day from outside the box with a curling shot in open play. He capped off the hat trick from the penalty spot in the 67thminute after defender Griffin Dorsey was deemed to have been fouled in the box.
Launched earlier this year by the Dynamo and FC Dallas, Torneo de Tejas is a new preseason tournament that brought together four Major League Soccer clubs for a structured, high-level competition hosted across Houston and Dallas. This tournament featured the Dynamo, FC Dallas, Atlanta United and Red Bull New York, with six total matches played over the course of the event.
