The Houston Dynamo selected midfielder Joe Holland, goalkeeper Jake McGuire and defender Danilo Radjen in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft presented by adidas.

The Dynamo began the day by trading the fourth overall pick in the SuperDraft to Portland Timbers FC for the 10th overall pick, $100,000 in General Allocation Money and a 2017 International roster slot. Houston then traded $125,000 of General Allocation Money and $50,000 of Targeted Allocation Money to the LA Galaxy for defender A.J. DeLaGarza.

“We came into the day with a very clear plan, clear objectives and we couldn’t be happier with the way the day went,” Dynamo Vice President and General Manager, Matt Jordan said. “We as an organization and a technical staff can’t wait to get started on the field. There is a lot of competition at every spot and that’s what we want throughout the team right now.”

Holland, selected with the No. 10 overall selection obtained from Portland, was named to the All-Colonial Athletic Association First Team in his final season at Hofstra University, claiming the award in three consecutive seasons. The midfielder finished his collegiate career with 19 goals and 28 assists in 79 games. The London, England native was named the Colonial Athletic Association Freshmen of the Year in 2012 and served as the vice-captain of Lewisham College in London prior to playing in the United States.

McGuire, the No. 30 overall selection in the second round of the SuperDraft out of Tulsa, was named to the NSCAA Third-Team All-East Region and the American Athletic Conference All-Tournament Team during his senior season at the University of Tulsa. The goalkeeper appeared in 67 games for Tulsa and tallied 17 shutouts during his collegiate career.  McGuire spent time in the U.S. Youth National Team U17 Residency Program with Dynamo Head Coach Wilmer Cabrera in 2011 and also as a member of the Chivas USA Academy.

Radjen, the No. 36 overall selection in the second round, was named Academic All-Mid American Conference in 2015 as a junior at the University of Akron. The defender appeared in 30 games for the Zips, starting 29 matches. The defender began his collegiate career at Cleveland State University where he appeared in 36 games, starting 34; and named to the Horizon League All-Newcomer Team as a freshman in 2012. Additionally, Radjen was named All-Conference and All-Greater Cleveland as a senior at Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School.
