The Houston Dynamo hadn’t defeated FC Dallas in their previous five meetings – and they apparently had enough of being the losers in the Texas Derby. A stunning four-goal lead from the Dynamo in just the 27th minute had an unnerved FCD unable to find their footing in Houston.
Though Dallas finished the night out-shooting Houston 11-to-8, the Dynamo had the clear better of the chances, putting young goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez under relentless pressure. An 85th-minute Will Bruin strike capped off the romp for an astonishing 5-0 final score.
