THE RESULT:

  • Improved the Dynamo’s record on the season to 13-10-11 overall and 12-1-4 at home.
  • Set a club record for home wins, surpassing the previous mark of 11 home wins set in 2012.
  • Gave the Dynamo their fourth 50-point season in club history.
  • Extended Houston’s unbeaten streak to a season-best six consecutive games.
  • Improved Houston’s record against Chicago Fire to 9-6-8 all-time and 6-2-4 in Houston.
  • Moved the Dynamo into fourth place of the MLS Western Conference table, giving the Dynamo home field advantage in the Knockout Round of the Audi 2017 MLS Cup Playoffs.

TEAM NOTES:

  • The Dynamo used their 32nd different starting lineup in 34 matches this season.
  • The goal by DF Leonardo was Houston’s third this season in the first two minutes of games, their fifth this season inside the first five minutes and their 12th inside the first 15 minutes.
  • The Dynamo scored the first goal of the game for the 16th time this season when DF Leonardo scored two minutes into the game. Houston is now 12-0-4 when scoring first.
  • The Dynamo led at halftime for the 14th time this season. Houston improved to 11-1-2 this season when leading at intermission. The last time the Dynamo led at intermission was against San Jose Earthquakes on August 12.
  • FW Mauro Manotas’ goal was his 10th goal of the season and became the sixth Dynamo player to score 10 or more goals in a season and the third this season. It marked the first time in club history that the Dynamo have had three players scoring in double digits in a season.
  • The Chicago Fire had better of possession, holding the ball for 60.5 percent of the game. It marked the 28th time this season that Houston had less possession than its opponent, and the Dynamo moved to 13-5-10 in those games.
  • The Chicago Fire outshot the Dynamo, 12-11. It marked the 14th time this season that the Dynamo were outshot by their opponent, and they improved to 4-4-6 in those games.
  • The Dynamo did not have any offside calls against them for the 11th time this season, and the Dynamo improved to 3-3-5 in those games.
  • The Dynamo finished the season having scored 57 goals, making this year’s offense the most prolific in Dynamo history.


INDIVIDUAL NOTES:

  • DF Leonardo scored his second goal of the season when converted a header from a throw-in on an assist by defender Adolfo Machado.  The goal was his second of the season, a new career high, and the fourth of his career.
  • Leonardo dished his first MLS assist in the long cross to FW Romell Quioto in the 68th minute
  • Leonardo started his 29th game of the season and the 108th of his MLS career this afternoon.
  • DF Adolfo Machado dished his second assist of the season on a throw-in to defender Leonardo in the second minute.
  • FW Romell Quioto scored his seventh goal of the season when he fired a left-footed shot from the left side of the 18-yard box in the 68th minute.
  • Quioto made his 14th start of the year and his 22nd MLS appearance.
  • FW Mauro Manotas scored his 10th goal of the season when he put home a cross from FW Andrew Wenger from close range in the 75th minute. He became the sixth Dynamo player to reach double digits in a season and the third this season.
  • Manotas made his 24th appearance of the season and the 34th in his MLS career this afternoon.
  • Machado earned the club’s Iron Man award, finishing the year with 2,970 minutes played. He played all 90 minutes in every game this year but one – and the one he missed was because he played all 90 minutes the night before for Panama to help his country earn its first-ever World Cup bid.
  • Machado made his 33rd start of the season and 33rd in MLS.
  • FW Andrew Wenger dished his second assist of the season when he sent a cross from right side to FW Mauro Manotas in the 75th minute.
  • Wenger played in his 159th career MLS game today. He made his 12th start of the season and the 95th of his career.
  • GK Tyler Deric kept his sixth clean sheet of the season, his second in a row and the 21st of his career with a shutout this afternoon. He made four saves in the game to preserve the shutout.
  • Deric made his 80th career start today and his 26th of the season.
  • Deric won his 10th game of the season, tying his career high from the 2015 season.
  • Deric wore the captain’s armband for the first time in his MLS career when DF A.J. DeLaGarza passed it to him after being substituted out.
  • DF A.J. DeLaGarza wore the captain’s armband for the first time this season and first time with the Dynamo.
  • DeLaGarza started in his 30th game of the season and the 226th of his MLS career this afternoon.
  • DF Dylan Remick played in his 58th career MLS game today and made his 13th start of the season and the 45th of his career.
  • MF Eric Alexander started his 11th game of the season and his 141st in MLS career today.
  • Alexander led the Dynamo in passing accuracy as he connected 93.9 percent of his passes.
  • FW Alex played in his 153rd career MLS game today. He made his 28th start of the season and the 114th of his career.
  • DF Jalil Anibaba made his eighth appearance of the season and his fourth as a substitute when he came in for DF AJ DeLaGarza in the 13th minute.
  • MF Juan David Cabezas made his 26th start of the year and his 27th MLS appearance.
  • FW Alberth Elis made his 26th career appearance if he came in for FW Romell Quioto in the 69th minute.
  • FW Vicente Sánchez made his 76th career appearance and his 22nd with the Dynamo when he came in for MF Juan David Cabezas in the 79th minute.
