Team Notes

  • The Dynamo scored inside of 10 minutes for the second consecutive game and the fourth time this season.
  • Houston took a two-goal lead on the road for the first time since June 26 at Portland.

Player Notes

  • MF Eric Alexander made his third appearance in Dynamo orange when he came on for MF Boniek García in the 86th minute.
  • D Jalil Anibaba was given a yellow card caution in the 18th minute for a tackle on San Jose MF Alberto Quintero outside the Dynamo penalty area. It was the California native’s fourth caution of the season and the 10th of his career.
  • F Will Bruin entered the game as a substitute for F Mauro Manotas in the 64th minute. It was Bruin’s 169th career appearance in MLS regular-season action, tying him with Dynamo legend Brian Ching for fifth on the club’s all-time games played list.
  • MF Ricardo Clark started in his 300th career appearance in league play, becoming the 34th player in league history to reach the milestone. Clark joins former Dynamo teammates Brad Davis (387), Bobby Boswell (346), Dwayne De Rosario (343), Brian Mullan (323) and Dominic Oduro (301) in the 300 games club.
  • Clark scored his fourth goal of the season and 35th of his career when he slotted a right-footed shot into an open net in the sixth minute. The goal was Clark’s third career tally against San Jose and his second this season.
  • All four of Clark’s goals this season have come on the road. Clark passed former Dynamo teammate Dwayne De Rosario for 23rd on Major League Soccer’s all-time minutes played list among field players. Clark entered the match with 25,157 career minutes under his belt, and he passed De Rosario (25,189) in the 33rd minute.
  • Clark passed Jason Kreis (25,242) for 22nd on the all-time minutes played list in the 86th minute.
  • Clark wore the captain’s armband for the fourth time this season.
  • MF Boniek García received a yellow card for a late foul in the 86th minute. It was his third caution of the season.
  • D David Horst scored his third goal of the season when he headed home a cross from MF Cristián Maidana in the 50th minute. The goal was the fifth of Horst’s career.
  • MF Cristián Maidana started in his 75th career MLS regular-season appearance. The Argentine played 59 minutes and assisted on the game-winning goal.
  • MF Collen Warner surpassed 10,000 career MLS regular-season minutes played in the 73rd minute.
  • MF Andrew Wenger came on as a substitute for MF Cristián Maidana in the 59th minute, making his 24th appearance on the year. Wenger remains the only Dynamo player to have played in every league game this season.
  • GK Joe Willis was credited with four saves in the game, including three spectacular diving saves that each denied a close-range headed shot by a San Jose attacker in the second half.
  • Willis registered his 10th career win as a starting goalkeeper and his third of the season.
  • Willis received a yellow card for dissent in the 54th minute.
