The Win…

  • Improved the Dynamo record on the season to 7-11-11 and the team’s record at home to 5-2-7.
  • Extended Houston’s unbeaten streak to three games, matching the longest such streak of the season. Houston previously drew three straight matches at Vancouver on May 28, at FC Dallas on June 2 and vs. DC United on June 18.
  • Gave the Dynamo back-to-back wins for the first time this season and the first time since September 23 and 26, 2015 when Houston defeated Sporting Kansas City and Colorado by 1-0 and 3-2 margins, respectively.

Team Notes

  • The Dynamo made one change to the starting lineup that won 1-0 at Real Salt Lake last Saturday. MF Andrew Wenger entered the lineup in place of Cristian Maidana. It was the 24th starting lineup used in 29 games this season.
  • The Dynamo were awarded their first penalty kick of the season when MF Collen Warner’s shot from 15 yards struck the hand of D Steven Taylor. F Mauro Manotas converted the spot kick in the 34th minute for his second goal of the season.
  • The Dynamo have won consecutive games for the first time since September 23-26, 2015, wins over Sporting Kansas City and the Colorado Rapids.
  • The Dynamo extended their unbeaten streak to three games, matching a season-high.
  • The Dynamo scored first for the 16th time this season. Houston’s record when netting the first goal is now 7-4-5.

Player Notes

  • F Mauro Manotas recorded his first hat trick in Major League Soccer. He converted a penalty kick in the 33rd minute with a firm shot to the bottom right corner. It was Manotas’ first penalty kick attempt with the Dynamo.
  • In the second half, Manotas scored two goals from the run of play, first a well-taken left-footed goal in the 73rd minute off a pass from MF Boniek García. Then, he finished a breakaway in the 85th minute off a through ball from MF Cristian Maidana.
  • Manotas is tied with MF Alex Lima for the team lead with seven goals across all competitions this year. Manotas has four goals in league play and three in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
  • García extended an MLS career-high with his ninth assist of the season.
  • It was García’s 29th career assist in all competitions with the Dynamo to tie Brian Mullan for third in club history.
  • García made his 100th career MLS regular-season start tonight. He tied Geoff Cameron and Andre Hainault for 12th on the club list.
  • García also made his 134th career appearance in all competitions with Houston to tie Eddie Robinson for 12th on the club list.
