Starting the playoffs on the road, Houston fell behind 2-0 on an Ante Razov free kick in the first half and a Francisco Palencia goal in the second half. The Dynamo recovered quickly, however, with Brian Ching pulling a goal back just seven minutes after Palencia’s goal. The Dynamo appeared to be headed for a road tie when awarded a penalty kick, but Chivas goalkeeper Brad Guzan made one of his nine saves on Dwayne De Rosario’s penalty to keep the Dynamo one goal back heading into the second leg.
