The Houston Dash have acquired defender Rebecca Moros from the Western New York Flash for a second-round pick in the 2017 NWSL College Draft, the clubs announced today.

“She’s obviously one of the best defenders in the league,” Dash head coach Randy Waldrum said. “She’s a proven champion both here in the NWSL and abroad.”

Moros, 30, was a member of the FC Kansas City team that won the 2015 NWSL Championship. The defender started all 20 regular-season games, registered one assist and helped FCKC record 11 shutouts last season.

“Rebecca is a winner,” Dash managing director Brian Ching said. “She’s the type of veteran we need in our locker room. We have so many new and young players this season that a player like Rebecca is invaluable.”

Prior to joining FCKC, Moros signed with Portland Thorns FC where she appeared in 18 games.  Prior to playing in the NWSL, the defender spent two seasons at INAC Kobe Leonessa in Japan winning the league in 2011.

Additionally, Moros participated with U.S. U-21 National Team in the first half of 2006. The defender graduated from Duke University where she was a second-team All-ACC selection as a sophomore and first-team honoree in her junior and senior season.
