Janine Beckie and Allysha Chapman’s bronze medal tour continued over the Labor Day weekend at Drake’s Summer Sixteen Tour. The two Dash players met with the Grammy-award winning artist after his show and surprised him with a personalized jersey.

“It was awesome, he is a really great guy. He was really excited to get the jersey,” Janine Beckie said. “He’s obviously a big fan and he watched us play during the Olympics – he was very excited to see our medals. It was a great experience.”

The bronze medal winners were introduced to Drake by Evan Alvarez, the Dash equipment manager. Alvarez helped the rapper with tour logistics throughout the country prior to joining the Dash.
Beckie ranks this experience as one of the most thrilling after winning the bronze medal at the Olympic Games.
“This is pretty high up there. I haven’t met a lot of celebrities and he is definitely someone I’ve wanted to meet,” Beckie said. “He lived up to everything I heard and took the time to hang out with us, meet us and I was very grateful for that. You’ll definitely see him rep that jersey.”
Beckie and Chapman return to BBVA Compass Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 11 when the Dash host the Boston Breakers for the club’s annual Military and First Responders Night. Tickets for the match start at $15 and are available at HoustonDashSoccer.com, by phone at 713-276-GOAL or at the BBVA Compass Stadium Box Office.
