THE RESULT:

  • Improved the Dynamo’s record to 10-8-8 on the season.
  • Kept the 2017 Texas Derby level with three draws in three outings.
  • Kept El Capitán in Houston, since the cannon goes to the winner of the annual series or stays with the current holder if the season series ends in a tie (provided the teams do not meet in the 2017 MLS Cup Playoffs).
  • Improved head coach Wilmer Cabrera’s record with the Dynamo to 10-8-8.
  • Improved the Dynamo’s all-time record against FC Dallas to 10-9-11 overall and 2-5-7 in Frisco.
  • Improved the Dynamo’s record against Western Conference foes to 5-3-8 on the year.

TEAM NOTES:

  • Houston’s two-goal deficit in the second half was the team’s largest deficit overcome this season and its first multiple-goal comeback for a draw or win since June 20, 2012 vs. Toronto FC (trailed 3-1, drew 3-3).
  • The goal by FW Vicente Sánchez 60 seconds into the game was the fifth-fastest in Dynamo history and the fifth in club history scored inside the 60 seconds of the game. Other first-minute goals included:
    • 40 seconds – Giles Barnes vs. New York Red Bulls, July 4, 2014 (Final score: 2-2)
    • 47 seconds – Craig Waibel vs. Colorado Rapids, Oct. 14, 2006 (Final score: 3-3)
    • 52 seconds – Andrew Wenger vs. Montreal Impact, July 5, 2017 (Final score: 3-1)
    • 58 seconds – David Horst vs. LA Galaxy, Apr. 15, 2016 (Final score: 1-4)
  • The goal by FW Vicente Sánchez was Houston’s fourth this season inside the first five minutes of the game and the team’s 11th inside the first 15 minutes of games.
  • The Dynamo scored the first goal of the game for the 14th time this season when FW Vicente Sánchez scored 60 seconds into the game. Houston is now 10-0-4 when scoring first.
  • The Dynamo trailed at halftime for the sixth time this season. Houston is now 0-4-2 this year when going into halftime trailing their opponents.
  • Dallas outshot the Dynamo, 19-16. It marked the 10th time this season that the Dynamo were outshot by their opponent, and they improved to 2-4-4 in those games.
  • Dallas held the edge in possession, holding the ball for 51.0 percent of the game. It marked the 21st time this season that Houston had less possession than its opponent, and the Dynamo improved to 10-4-7 in those games.
  • The Dynamo utilized their 24th different starting lineup in 26 matches this season.


PLAYER NOTES:

  • FW Erick Torres set the club single-season scoring record with his 13th and 14th goals of the season tonight. Former Dynamo FW Brian Ching held the record with 13 goals in 2008. Torres scored in the 71st minute to tie the record and again in the 86th to break it.
  • Torres scored a brace for the third  time in his career and scored multiple goals for the fourth time in his career. His last multi-goal game came on April 1, 2017 vs. New York Red Bulls when he scored three.
  • Torres picked up his third assist of the season when he played a low pass to FW Vicente Sánchez inside the Dallas penalty area that Sánchez converted with a left-footed shot.
  • Torres received a yellow card caution in the 26th minute for a foul on FC Dallas FW Michael Barrios. It was his fifth caution of the season.
  • Torres made his 70th career start tonight and his 19th start of the season.
  • FW Vicente Sánchez scored his second goal of the season and second in three games when he converted a first-touch shot with his left foot from 16 yards out, just 60 seconds into the game. Sánchez created the opportunity by stepping into the path of a Dallas pass 40 yards from goal and intercepting it, starting a quick Dynamo counterattack.
  • Sánchez started for the Dynamo in MLS competition for the first time tonight. He has made 13 appearances on the year, all as a substitute and has started twice in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
  • FW Romell Quioto recorded his third assist of the season when he set up FW Erick Torres’ goal in the 71st minute.
  • Quioto made his 16th appearance of the season and his sixth as a substitute when he comes into the game for FW Vicente Sánchez in the 55th minute.
  • MF Alex started his 23rd game of the season and his 62nd game with the Dynamo.
  • DF Jalil Anibaba made his fourth start of the season and his 32nd with the Dynamo tonight.
  • GK Tyler Deric made his 72nd career start tonight and his 18th of the season.
  • Deric improved his record as a starting goalkeeper at 24-25-20 with the draw tonight.
  • MF Ricardo Clark started his 21st game of the season and the 312th of his career tonight.
  • Tonight’s game was Clark’s 20th start against FC Dallas, the most by any player in the series.
  • Clark is now three appearances away from reaching 300 with the Dynamo across all competitions.
  • FW Alberth Elis started his 13th game of the season tonight and made his 19th appearance of the year.
  • MF Boniek García went the full 90 minutes and led the team in touches (63) and passes attempted (45), and tied for the team lead in tackles (three). His 84.4 completion percentage was second on the team among players with at least 20 attempts.
  • García received a yellow card caution in the 25th minute for a foul on FC Dallas MF Roland Lamah. It was his second caution of the season and his second in as many games.
  • García made his 18th appearance of the season and the 138th appearance of his Dynamo and MLS career tonight. It was his 10th start of the year and the 114th of his career.
  • DF Kevin Garcia picked up a yellow card caution in the 80th minute for a foul on FC Dallas FW Michael Barrios.
  • Garcia made his second start and third appearance tonight. His previous start came earlier this year in a 2-0 win over the San Jose Earthquakes on April 22.
  • DF Adolfo Machado started his 26th consecutive game. He is the only player on the team to have started every game this season.
  • Machado played all 90 minutes for the 26th consecutive match. He and New York City FC defender Alexander Callens are the only field players in the league who have played every minute for their clubs this year.
  • FW Mauro Manotas made his 25th appearance of the season and his sixth as a substitute when he came on for FW Alberth Elis in the 72nd minute.
  • MF Tomás Martínez made his third consecutive appearance for the club when he came into the game for MF Alex in the 69th minute.
  • DF Dylan Remick made his 10th start of the season and his 11th appearance for the club tonight. It marks the second season in his career in which he has started at least 10 games, along with the 2015 season with Seattle.
