The Houston Dynamo U-23 affiliate, Brazos Valley Cavalry FC, claimed their first PDL Mid South Division title Friday night with a 4-1 win over Texas United in Bryan.

Brazos Valley finished the season with six consecutive victories for a 9-2-3 record (30 points), scoring 42 goals and only conceding 19. The win qualifies Cavalry FC for the playoffs, the first rounds of which will be hosted by South Georgia Tormenta FC next Friday, July 20. The conference semifinals consist of all three division winners in the Southern Conference and the top second place finisher, with the winners advancing to the conference final on July 21.

Cavalry FC has been led by Brandon Guhl with 10 goals and five assists in nine games, as well as Angel Elvira Paita with seven goals and an assist. Dynamo Academy products Thomas Menke (six goals, two assists) and Marcelo Palomino (three goals, two assists in four games) have been integral as well.

This is the second season of play for Brazos Valley Cavalry FC, who are a hybrid affiliate of the Houston Dynamo. In this relationship, the Dynamo control all aspects of soccer operations, including employment of the technical staff and player selection, while Brazos Valley Cavalry FC manages the business side of the club.
