W-League Preview: Standings shaping up in Week 9

We are over halfway through the W-League regular season and the standings are starting to make themselves known. Nothing’s set in stone, but our Dash players down under are fighting to still be in the playoff race.

After Tuesday’s trade with Utah Royals FC, we acquired forward Katie Stengel, who is currently on loan to Canberra United. Stengel is out with an ankle injury and will not be suiting up this weekend.

With the fires going on in Australia, Canberra United’s match against midfielder Sofia Huerta and Veronica Latsko’s Sydney FC has been postponed. Meanwhile, defenders Amber Brooks and Ari Romero battled it out to a 2-2 draw. Midfielder Haley Hanson and Melbourne Victory came out victorious in a 2-1 win over the Newcastle Jets.

This weekend, none of our Dash players expected to see action. Brooks and Adelaide United have had their game against the Newcastle Jets postponed due to weather. Latsko, Huerta and Sydney FC take on Canberra United on Monday, January 13 at 1:00 am CDT. This match is to make up for last week’s game. It will be streamed on MyFootball’s YouTube channel.
