Houston Dynamo FC announced today that the Club will loan midfielder Marcelo Palomino to the Charlotte Independence for the 2021 USL Championship season.

“Marcelo made positive steps forward last season making three league appearances, but after discussing collectively with Tab and Marcelo we all agreed that this loan to Charlotte made a lot of sense to gain important rhythm as a critical part of the process for his development,” Dynamo Senior Vice President and General Manager Matt Jordan said.

The Houston native signed a Homegrown Player contract with the Club on Jan. 6, 2020. Palomino made his professional debut on Oct. 14, 2020 as a second half substitute against Sporting Kansas City at BBVA Stadium. The midfielder earned three appearances for the Dynamo in 2020.
Palomino signed a First Team contract after earning Dynamo Academy Player of the Year honors three times from 2014-2018. The midfielder was selected by current Dynamo head coach Tab Ramos to the U-18 U.S. Men’s National Team in 2018 and won the International Youth Tournament of Vaclav Jezek after a penalty shootout in the final. The Houston native was a regular in the youth national team pool for the U15-U19 squads after earning his first invitation to camp in 2014.

The Dynamo currently have 28 players on the active roster for the 2021 MLS regular season.
