HOUSTON (April 12, 2026) – Houston Dynamo 2 open a Club-record 10-match road trip at in-state rivals Austin FC II on Sunday, April 12, with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. CT at Parmer Field. Fans can tune in to the live action via MLSNEXTPro.com and OneFootball.
The match will be the first of three meetings between the Texas sides this season, with Dynamo 2 set to host Austin II on July 26 and September 4. Last year’s season series finished 1-1-1 (WLD), with Houston earning a 2-1 victory early in the season before claiming two points in a 1-1 draw and ensuing penalty shootout the next month.
Houston closed March with an undefeated four-match homestand and is coming off their fourth consecutive shutout victory, with a 2-0 win over in-state rivals North Texas SC on March 21. Midfielder Diego Gonzalez netted his first goal of the season in the 48th minute, while midfielder Gilberto Rivera recorded his first professional goal in the 53rd minute. Defender Eiji Hata, who recently signed with Dynamo 2, made his professional debut after coming onto the pitch in the 74th minute.
Notably, Dynamo 2 earned two monthly honors for March, with interim head coach Jeremy Hurdle being named MLS NEXT Pro Coach of the Month, while goalkeeper Pedro Cruz earned MLS NEXT Pro Goalkeeper of the Month honors. Houston currently sits second in the Western Conference under Hurdle and is the only team in the league who has not conceded a goal in 2026. Cruz finished March with three clean sheets, eight saves and a perfect 100% save percentage.
Highlights from March include a 4-0 victory over conference rivals Tacoma Defiance (March 8), where Houston’s defense held Tacoma to just one shot on target from eight total attempts and a dominant 5-0 win versus Portland Timbers2 (March 15). The five-goal performance versus Portland earned Dynamo 2 MLS NEXT Pro Team of Matchweek 3 honors, with seven players contributing to the scoring effort. Houston opened the season with a 2-0 victory over Colorado Rapids 2, with goals from midfielders Samir Mohammad and D’Alessandro Herrera.
Dos signed forward Mamadi Jiana last week after completing a productive senior season at Bryant University, where he started 20 of his 21 appearances during the 2025 campaign. Jiana finished third in goals in the America East Conference (AmEast) with seven, including two braces, one against the University of Connecticut and another versus University of Massachusetts Lowell in the semifinals of the AmEast Championship, which secured the Bulldogs a spot in the final versus the University of Vermont.
Two Dynamo Academy players who are regulars with Dynamo 2 have returned from international duty following the March FIFA window. Attacker Mattheo Dimareli represented the U.S. U-17 Men’s National Team at a training camp in Ypané, Paraguay, while midfielder Omar Bolaños was called up to the Guatemala U-20 squad. Additionally, Dynamo 2 forward David Garcia returns from a call-up with the Venezuela U-20 national team.
Austin II enters Sunday’s match sitting seventh in the Western Conference with seven points and a 2-1-1 (WLD) record and are coming off a two-match winning streak, defeating Tacoma 1-0 in their most recent fixture. Kenan Hot was the lone goal scorer that night.
Houston will continue their 10-match road trip by facing Real Monarchs on Sunday, April 19, at Zions Bank Stadium, with a kickoff set for 4:30 p.m. CT. Fans can tune in to the live action via MLSNEXTPro.com and OneFootball.
