Houston Dynamo FC captain Héctor Herrera was named to the Team of Matchday for Matchday 15, the league announced today.

The Dynamo found victory over Austin FC for the second time this season, defeating the in-state rivals 2-1 with an 88th-minute game-winning goal at Shell Energy Stadium. The win gave Houston its 190th victory in league play.

Herrera has now been selected to the Team of the Matchday twice this season (Matchday 4 and 15) and joins goalkeeper Steve Clark (Matchday 11), defender Daniel Steres (Matchday 9), forward Amine Bassi (Matchday 7), defender Franco Escobar (Matchday 7) and midfielder Artur (Matchday 5) as Dynamo players named to the matchday team this season.

After trailing Austin early in the match, the veteran midfielder scored Houston’s equalizing goal in the 37th minute after midfielder Adalberto “Coco” Carrasquilla’s initial effort was blocked. The second ball fell to Herrera for his third goal of the season.

Herrera was also involved in the 88th-minute game-winning goal, delivering a corner kick to defender Daniel Steres who flicked the ball on to forward Iván Franco, finding the back of the net to score his first goal for Houston.

Along with his goal and assist, the Mexican international led the team in shots (7), chances created (2) and duels won (10) to earn Man of the Match honors.
