Dynamo slip in the MLSsoccer.com Power Rankings after tough week

Last week was not a particularly fun week for Dynamo or their supporters, as a two-game Eastern Conference swing ended with two more road losses to the Philadelphia Union.

Due to that, the MLSsoccer.com Power Rankers dropped Houston from No. 8 back down to No. 11 in their weekly rankings, saying this about the team:

For as impressive as they've been at home, Houston aren't going to be able to truly make waves without putting it together away from BBVA Compass Stadium. That didn't happen last week, when they lost at Philly and Atlanta to slip in the standings and power rankings.

While the three-spot drop in the Power Rankings is severe and worrisome, the "slip in the standings" saw the Dynamo go from a tie for first place in the Western Conference to … a tie for second place in the Western Conference. The team is three points behind conference leaders Sporting Kansas City, and have only played 12 games to Sporting's 13. The Dynamo are third in the conference based on points per game.

Still, the squad will have another chance to exorcise their road demons, pick up crucial points, and catch the attention of the league (and Power Rankers) this Sunday in the first Texas Derby matchup of the year against FC Dallas (7 p.m. CT | FS1). The team then returns home on Wednesday, May 31 with a chance to extend their home dominance against Real Salt Lake (7:30 p.m. CT | TICKETS).
