Houston Dash forward María Sánchez has been named to the Mexico Women’s National Team roster ahead of their July friendlies against the U.S. Women’s National Team.

Mexico is set to play USWNT twice as part of their send-off series for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The first match in Connecticut is on Thursday, July 1 at 7:30 p.m. CT (FS1) at Pratt & Whitney Stadium, followed by the final game on Monday, July 5 at 4 p.m. CT.

Earlier this month, Sánchez joined the Dash on a short-term loan from Tigres UANL Femenil after the club acquired her rights in a trade with the Chicago Red Stars for Houston’s natural second round pick in the 2022 NWSL Draft.

The forward made her debut with the senior Mexican Women’s National Team in 2015 and was part of the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup squad, the second youngest player on the team. She has made 24 appearances for the senior team, scoring three goals. Sánchez was also a part of Mexico’s U-20 squad in the 2016 U-20 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The Mexican American has made two appearances for the Dash this month. She made her Houston debut as a sub in the 61st minute when the team traveled Midwest to take on Kansas City NWSL on June 6. Sánchez then made her first NWSL start on June 20 at Lynn Family Stadium against Racing Louisville, logging 68 minutes on the field.

Houston return home this weekend to host the unbeaten Orlando Pride at BBVA Stadium on June 26. Kickoff for Saturday’s match is set for 7:00 p.m. CT, and fans can follow the action on Paramount+ and international fans can stream the match live on Twitch.
