Houston Dynamo FC defender Adam Lundkvist was named to the MLSSoccer.com Team of the Week this afternoon.

The 28-year-old tallied his team-leading fourth assist of the season on Saturday in Houston’s 2-0 victory over Chicago Fire FC at PNC Stadium. The defender found forward Darwin Quintero inside the box in the final moments of the first half to give Houston a 2-0 lead going into halftime.

Lundkvist also created four chances against the Fire on Saturday. Defensively, the outside back finished with two tackles won, two clearances and one interception as Houston earned their fifth clean sheet of the season. His goal line clearance in the 80th minute was crucial in helping the Dynamo preserve the shutout and, more importantly, all three points in victory.

Lundkvist is the sixth player to receive MLSSoccer.com Team of the Week honors this season. He was previously named to the MLSSoccer.com Team of the Week in 2019.

Houston travels to Oregon this week to face the Portland Timbers at Providence Park at 9:30 p.m. CT on Wednesday. Fans can watch the game live in English on AT&T SportsNet or in Spanish on TeleXitos 47.2 The Dynamo return to PNC Stadium on Sunday to host MLS newcomers Charlotte FC.
