SAN JOSE, Calif. (Sept. 12, 2026) – Houston Dynamo FC fell on the road by a 1-0 final score to the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday night. Despite the loss, Houston remains in second place in the MLS Western Conference.
Notably, defender Agustin Resch joined former Dynamo forward Will Bruin as the only Houston rookies selected in the MLS SuperDraft to surpass 1,600 regular season minutes in their first MLS seasons. With nine matches remaining this season, Resch, who has been a consistent starter in Houston's strong defensive efforts this season, could rival some of the top rookie minutes in league history.
Additionally, defender Felipe Andrade made his 50th Dynamo appearance across all competitions tonight.
San Jose took the lead in the 38th minute when Beau Leroux found Daniel Munie in the crowd box for the finish.
The Dynamo generated a dangerous opportunity in the 31st minute when winger Aliyu Ibrahim from the right flank found attacker Guilherme at the top of the box for a right-footed strike that nearly found the inside of the far post.
Houston would threaten again in the 60th minute, as Guilherme sent a diagonal set piece toward the corner of the six-yard box. The ball was clipped back across the goal mouth, needing two saves from Quakes goalkeeper Angus Gunn to keep Houston from equalizing.
In the 88th minute Houston came closest to equalizing, as forward Nick Markanich rose high to head a cross low, but Gunn cleared it off the line. The rebound bounced to midfielder Héctor Herrera, who fired first time, but also saw his effort cleared off the line by Gunn.
