HOUSTON (Sept. 19, 2026) – Houston Dynamo FC played FC Cincinnati to a 2-2 draw at Shell EnergyStadium on Saturday night, with goals from attackers Guilherme and Mateusz Bogusz, marking the fifth time both players have scored in the same MLS match this season.
Houston remains second in the Western Conference standings with a 13-8-5 (W-L-D) record on 44 points, the second-highest total through 26 matches in team history.
With tonight’s result, the Dynamo have now avoided defeat in 10 of 12 matches since returning from the World Cup break. It also adds to the team’s home record this season, which now stands at 8-2-3 (W-L-D).
Guilherme broke the scoreless affair in the 38th minute, curling a free kick around wall into the back of the inside. The play marked his 14th goal of the season, while the Brazilian has now contributed to 22 of Houston’s 33 league goals this season (66.7%). Notably, the 22 goal contributions (14 goals and eight assists) set a new single-season record for the Dynamo, surpassing midfielder Héctor Herrera (2021) and former Dynamo player Mauro Manotas’ (2019) 21 goal contributions.
The Dynamo extended their lead in the 50th minute when a through ball from Guilherme to forward Lawrence Ennali sprung the winger down the right side. Ennali found Guilherme again, who sent a diagonal ball toward midfielder Agustin Bouzat, who was tripped up just inside the Cincinnati box for a Dynamo penalty. Bogusz stepped up to the spot and dispatched the penalty, firing underneath Roman Celentano for his sixth goal of the season. Notably, the Polish playmaker has now scored in back-to-back home matches.
Cincinnati pulled one back in the 73rd minute after Evander worked toward the endline, cut the ball back to Kevin Denkey, who flicked on to find an open Bryan Ramirez who calmly slotted home at the back post to cut the lead to 2-1.
The visitors then leveled the match in second half stoppage time after Denkey converted a penalty shot. The penalty was awarded after Bogusz was deemed to have fouled Kenji Mboma Dem inside the box.Â
Houston found themselves on a dangerous attack in the ninth minute when captain Artur played a through ball to Herrera. The former Mexican international played the ball into the path of a charging Bogusz, but the attacker’s shot was blocked by goalkeeper Roman Celentano and the Cincinnati back line.
Bogusz got another shot off in the 29th minute when a ball fell to him in the box, but his attempt floated just over the crossbar on the far side.
Goalkeeper Jonathan Bond was called into action in the 31st minute when Obinna Nwobodo fired a looping shot from outside of the box, but the veteran shot stopper got down to his right to push the ball away from danger. The play marked Bond’s first of six saves on the night.
In the 58th minute, Bond made a terrific save, once more. A set piece from well outside the box gave Bond pause, as he took an initial step off his line before retreating. Cincinnati’s Teenage Hadebe, former Dynamo defender, headed it toward frame, and Bond dove toward the back post to parry it away. The rebound was headed over Bond, and seemed destined to score, but defender Lucas Halter stepped up to head the attempt off the line.
Three minutes later, Bond made yet another important save. Denkey found himself through on goal after a headed cross. Bond dove low to deny the one-on-one opportunity to keep the advantage at two for the Dynamo.
