CHARLOTTE (Sept. 5, 2026) – Houston Dynamo FC and Charlotte FC played to a scoreless draw on Saturday night at Bank of America Stadium. The Dynamo earned their 11th shutout of the season, the second-most in a single season in Dynamo history. The point keeps Houston in second place in the Western Conference, just three points behind top-seeded Vancouver at full-time.
Attacking midfielder Mateusz Bogusz managed the game’s first shot on goal in the 19th minute, when forward Guilherme found him on the edge of the box, however, his low curling shot was saved by a diving Kristijan Kahlina.
Minutes later, Bogusz played a ball across the box to forward Lawrence Ennali, who fired a quick shot on the ground at the near post, forcing another quick reaction save from Kahlina.
Dynamo goalkeeper Jonathan Bond was called into action in first half stoppage time when a ball from Allan Saint-Maximin to the back post bounced off Houston midfielder Artur towards goal, and the veteran shot stopper reacted quickly to bat the danger away. The play marked his first of two saves on the night.
In the 58th minute, Bond was heroic once more. The Dynamo were caught in possession outside their own area. Pep Biel fired from range with a shot that appeared destined for the upper corner, but Bond flew high and parried the shot away for a corner, keeping the score level at 0-0.
Ten minutes later, it was Guilherme who attempted to add to his team-leading goal tally. The Brazilian fired low from just outside the box, but Charlotte’s Kahlina got down to claim the shot.
The match was turned on its head in the 71st minute, as Charlotte captain Ashley Westwood saw successive yellows for dissent, earning an ejection and reducing Charlotte to 10 men with just under 20 minutes to go in regular time. But the Dynamo could not capitalize on the man advantage and the points were split. The clean sheet is Houston’s 11th of the season – second-most in a single season in Club history.
