Houston Dynamo FC midfielder Adalberto “Coco” Carrasquilla was named to the MLSSoccer.com Team of the Week this afternoon.

The 23-year-old scored the opening goal of Houston’s 2-0 victory over Nashville on Saturday at PNC Stadium and played an integral role in leading the team to victory despite playing nearly an hour at a one-man disadvantage. Carrasquilla was named the team’s Man of the Match for his work on Saturday night.

Carrasquilla led the team with 12 recoveries and won nine of 10 duels against Nashville. Defensively, the midfielder led the team with five interceptions and finished with two tackles on Saturday.

This is the first Team of the Week honor for Carrasquilla, who initially signed with the team on loan on Aug. 5, 2021. Houston exercised the option to purchase the Panamanian international last week and he will remain with the team through the 2024 season and the club holds an option for an additional season.

Houston closes a three-game homestand on Wednesday against Seattle Sounders FC. Tickets for that match start at just $17 and are available online at HoustonDynamoFC.com/Tickets.

The Dynamo will close the week in California when they face the LA Galaxy on Sunday, May 22.
