HOUSTON (July 31, 2026) – Houston Dynamo FC open a two-match road trip on Saturday, Aug. 1, traveling for the first time since resuming league play to face historic rivals Sporting Kansas City at Sporting Park. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CT, and fans can tune in to the action via MLS on Apple TV.

Saturday’s fixture marks the 47th all-time regular season meeting between the Dynamo and Kansas City. The most recent matchup at Sporting Park came last season on Decision Day, when the two sides played to a scoreless draw, with goalkeeper Jonathan Bond managing two saves to earn the team’s 10th clean sheet of the regular season.

The Dynamo currently sits fifth in the Western Conference standings with an 8-6-2 (WLD) record and 26 points, just a point shy of entering the top four.

Houston is coming off a 3-0 shutout victory versus in-state rivals Austin FC in front of a sold-out crowd at Shell Energy Stadium last weekend, behind a third-career MLS brace from attacker Mateusz Bogusz and two goal contributions (one goal and one assist) from attacker Guilherme. Notably, their performances earned them MLSSoccer.com Team of the Matchday honors for Matchday 18.  Additionally, Bond contributed five saves to help the Dynamo secure their fifth clean sheet of the year.

The Dynamo managed a strong finish during the run into the World Cup break, earning a 5-2-1 (WLD) record in their final eight MLS matches, while posting four clean sheets. They currently sit seventh inside the Western Conference playoff line with a 7-6-2 (WLD) record and 23 points, just three points off the top four spots in a tightly contested table.

Notably, several Dynamo players have had standout performances since the start of the season. Guilherme leads the team with 16 goal contributions, including nine goals and seven assists. Forward Lawrence Ennali continues to provide support on both ends of the pitch, contributing three goals and two assists. After dealing with an injury earlier this season, U.S. Men’s National Team midfielder Jack McGlynn’s magical left foot was on fire. Midfielder HĂ©ctor Herrera has provided invaluable leadership both on and off the pitch, while scoring two goals and recording two assists.

Kansas City heads into Saturday's match sitting at the bottom of the Western Conference table with 14 points and a 4-11-2 (WLD) record. The team finished the month of July with a one win and two losses, most recently falling 4-0 on the road to LAFC. Dejan Joveljic leads the team's attack with eight goals.

Guilherme represented Houston in this year's MLS All-Star Game, presented by Chime, on Wednesday night, coming on in the first half and playing 28 minutes alongside some of the league's top stars. The veteran attacker was named to the 2026 MLS All-Star Team after quickly establishing himself as a key figure for La Naranja and helping propel the Club into the Western Conference playoff race.

Just this week, Houston transferred Exon ArzĂș to Carabobo FC in Venezuela. The 22-year-old initially joined Houston Dynamo 2 on loan from Real España in February 2024, before signing with the Dynamo on a full transfer in August 2024.

Houston continue their two-match road trip at Eastern Conference opponent the New England Revolution on Saturday, Aug. 8, with kickoff scheduled for 3:30 p.m. CT. Fans can follow the action live via MLS on Apple TV.
