HOUSTON (May 27, 2025) – Houston Dynamo FC play their sixth and final road match of the month on Wednesday, May 28, traveling to face New York City FC at Yankee stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT, and fans can stream the match via MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.

This inter-conference fixture will mark the first meeting between the two sides since 2023 and the first match in New York since 2019. The Dynamo will look to gain the upper hand in the all-time regular season series against NYCFC, which is currently tied at two wins apiece. In their most recent encounter, Houston earned a 1-0 home victory at Shell Energy Stadium behind a goal from forward Amine Bassi.

One lineup note for this week is that forward Ezequiel Ponce will miss Wednesday’s match due to a suspension for yellow card accumulation.

The Dynamo are coming off a 3-3 road draw versus the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday behind a second half stoppage time goal from defender Griffin Dorsey, whose one-goal and one-assist performance earned him MLSSoccer.com Team of the Matchday honors for Matchday 15. The 26-year-old recorded his career-high sixth assist on Ponce’s opening goal, while defender Felipe Andrade netted the team’s second goal of the night. Notably, Andrade became the first Dynamo player since Bassi in 2023 to score in his first two starts with Houston. Additionally, Saturday’s result extended Houston’s undefeated run versus San Jose to four matches and their overall MLS unbeaten streak to three.

Last week, midfielder Jack McGlynn was named to the U.S. Men’s National Team (USNMT) training camp roster in preparation for the upcoming June friendlies and 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup. The camp will take place in Chicago beginning on June 1.

NYCFC enters Wednesday’s matchup with three wins in their previous five league matches this month, holding a 3-1-1 (WLD) record during that stretch. This includes their most recent 3-1 home victory over Chicago Fire FC on Sunday at Yankee Stadium, where Mounsef Bakrar, Alonso Martinez and Hannes Wolf each netted a goal. New York City currently sits sixth in the Eastern Conference with 24 points and an overall record of 7-5-3 (WLD). Martinez leads the team’s attack with eight goals and one assist.

Houston returns to Shell Energy Stadium on Saturday, May 31, to host Sporting Kansas City on Kick Cancer Night, presented by MD Anderson Cancer Center. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT, and fans can secure tickets for the match HERE.
